Nickel pigments offer a unique combination of (1) good corrosion resistance (2) attractive visual appearance (3) high electrical conductivity and (4) ferromagnetism. The forms of nickel pigments, flake, filamentary and spherical are described. Nickel pigments are used in decorative, functional, solvent and waterborne and electrically conductive coatings. Nickel is one of three elements that are strongly ferromagnetic at room temperatures. The magnetic properties of nickel-containing coatings are presented in table form.
